One of the best things that you can do for your self-esteem is to keep a self-esteem journal, which will help you to get more out of your life. Keeping a journal will help you in a lot of ways, and it is an essential step in healing your wounded emotions that are holding you back.
What is a Self-Esteem Journal
Basically, a self esteem journal is simply a short journal that you can use to keep track of the things that are happening in your life and how you deal with them. I keep 2 different journals every day that both help me to get more out of my life.
As I have gone through my reviews of some of the best self-esteem programs, I have found that one thing they all have in common is that they recommend journaling to organize your thoughts and keep track of how you are making progress.
Keeping a Gratitude Journal
Keeping a gratitude journal can be a great way to keep yourself reminded about the things that you have in your life. A few years ago, I started keeping a journal every morning. The first thing I do each day is sit down and write up about 10 things that I am grateful for.
When doing this yourself, don't allow repetitions of the same things. i have seen a few people take the lazy way out, and just write down the same ten things over and over again. Although this can help a little, you want to challenge yourself to find various things that you have in your life.
Keeping a daily log of things that you are grateful for will really help you to make a mindset shift. You will find that you are looking for things to add to your journal, and so you will become more aware of all the good things that you do have in your life.
Start A Worry Journal
Another great type of journal to keep is a worry journal. I actually learned how to do this as I did my Review of Supreme Self Confidence, by Slade Shaw. This type of journal is great for those of you who worry a lot about everything. Keep a worry journal at the end of each day. During that time, write down everything that happened to you throughout the day.
At firs this might seem like an overwhelming task, but the best way to utilize it is to reduce the amount of time that you spend worrying. After starting this up every day for a week or so, whenever you start to worry throughout the day, you start telling yourself you will deal with that during your worry time.
This assigns a time for your brain to deal with those worries, and so it will let it go. This is deflecting the worry rather than trying to fight it. Use those wonderful procrastination skills that your low self-esteem has helped you develop to put off worrying until later.
Over time, you will start forgetting those worries. you will train your brain to only worry at that time of day, and by the time you get to that time, you will begin finding it hard to remember something that you worried about.
Start Your Self Esteem Journal Today!
Don't put off starting your self esteem journals. Use one or both of these tactics today, and you will begin seeing a transformation within the next few days. It takes some time to really get the full benefit, but some of them are almost immediately noticeable. Get started with your journal today, and good luck.
